Offaly to face DIT in Walsh Shield Senior Hurling Final

editorial image

OFFALY will face the students of DIT in the Walsh Shield Senior Hurling Final after both sides came through their respective semi-finals on Sunday.

After the disappointment of their opening day defeat to Westmeath, Offaly bounced back with an impressive 2-18 to 1-15 win away to Wexford.

Ollie Baker’s men made the ideal start with a goal from Derek Molloy and they went to the break with a 1-12 to 0-7 lead. Wexford mounted a second half comeback but a second Offaly goal from Joe Bergin, who finished the game with 1-8, gave Offaly the impetus to go on and win the game.

The defending champions will face DIT in the final after the students defeated Carlow in their semi-final in Dr Cullen Park by 1-15 to 0-15
