Offaly propping up the pile after Roscommon defeat

Offaly are languishing at the foot of Division 3 of the Allianz Football League on score difference after a second straight defeat to open their 2012 campaign

Offaly 1-6

Roscommon 0-12

The sides were level six times during the game but as they did against Longford in their opening game, Offaly fell away badly in the final quarter as Roscommon took full control.

The visitors even had the luxury of kicking five wides in the last ten minutes as they were in complete control of the game. One of their final points came after a move that involved at least 30 passes without an Offaly player getting in an effective challenge.

After being level at half-time, Offaly fell behind in the second-half but a well converted penalty from Anton Sullivan got them back on terms with 15 minutes remaining.

Unfortunately for Offaly, that would prove to be their last score as Roscommon took over to record their second consecutive win.

Offaly, Cavan and Tipperary have each lost their first two games and the Faithful County face an uphill battle if they are to avoid a relegation dogfight.
