Offaly piled on the pressure in the first-half and opened up a 1-11 to 0-4 lead with full forward Elaine Dermody bursting through the defence to fire to the back of the net 20 minutes into the half. The Drumcullen finished the game with an impressive haul of 1-6.

Waterford flew out of the blocks in the second-half hitting a quickfire 1-2 to get themselves right back into the game.

Offaly however responded and two quickfire goals one from Siobhan Flannery and a stunner from Arlene Watkins set the team on course for a comfortable victory.

Waterford did mount a late charge but they were kept at bay by a stunning full length save from Audrey Kennedy in the Offaly goal.

Aine Lyng did add a late goal but it was little more than a consolation score as Offaly held on for the win.
