With almost 900 people signed up so far, the 100km for €100k event to raise funds for Irish Autism Action is proving to be a huge success, however another 100 plus people are needed to reach the magical target of €100K.
The communities of Rhode, Edenderry and surrounding areas have been superb in their overwhelming support and the committee is indebted to everybody that have supported or signed up so far.
The man who is going to run the 100km, Rhode’s Niall Murphy, has been training quite hard over the last few weeks and he completed an 80km training run on February 19 and is thrilled with all the good wishes and support he is receiving from everybody.
Rhode Ladies Football club have also put in tremendous work in this event and it is to their credit too that so many people have signed up.
Irish Autism Action Patron Keith Duffy met with some of the committee recently and he said if possible he will come down on the day and run the last 10km lap with Niall.
Main sponsors DML Fire Systems is owned by Declan Murphy (Niall’s brother) and Tommy Lyons (Offaly football Manager 1996 – 1999). The committee and Irish Autism Action are indebted to DML Fire Systems for their very generous support.
There are a number of events also coming up to give everybody a chance to support

Two other ways of supporting are by purchasing an Autism Awareness Flag for €5 and also by buying an Aine milk chocolate bar for €2 which will also be on sale soon. The Chocolate bar is branded with Irish Autism Action and there will be a limited amount available. These will be in the shops from next week.
More details about the events happening on the day of April 1 will be available next week. These include children’s entertainment, live music, DJ, Barbecue, Roasting of a pig and the welcome visit of The Heineken Cup along with Irish Autism Action Patron Keith Duffy.
The challenge will take place in Rhode and Niall is looking for 100 captains to head up a team of 10 runners, joggers or walkers to do one of the 10k laps at your own pace on the day. Each team member needs to raise €100 in sponsorship or €1000 per team of 10. We would also take half teams or even just individual participants.
If you want to be a team captain, please contact Niall Murphy in Irish Autism Action on 087-2305566 or email@example.com and he’ll get a captains information pack out to you.
