PLANNING for this year’s St Patrick’s Day parade in Tullamore are well advanced and the committee expect that entries will reach record levels.

“We are very happy with the preparations so far and we are delighted with the level of interest from all groups in the area. The Tullamore parade is now very well established and everyone wants to be in it. It is really a great day of celebration by the whole community,” said Sean O’ Brien, PRO.

The parade takes place on Thursday March 17, commencing at 11.15am. Groups are asked to assemble in the car park of the Bridge Centre by 10.45am at the latest.

Community, sport, music or business entries are still welcome. The committee is advising all entries to be sure to finalise their entries as early as possible and to remember that there are excellent prizes for the successful category winners.

Dogs and their owners are again very welcome. The entries from this category are increasing each year and again this year there will be a prize for the best dressed dog.

The theme this year is “Music in Tullamore Through the Ages” and the committee are inviting musical entries in any form to take part. Musical entries can march, perform, dance or entertain as they feel fit. The committee will assist groups in nay way possible and if a group wish to simply entertain in some place on the parade route this can be facilitated.

More stewards are needed to assist with the assembly of the parade and for marshalling along the route, so volunteers can contact any member of the Committee at the contact details below.
