Edenderry RFC hosts It’s Strictly Dancing this weekend

The Strictly Come Dancing event will take place in The Hamlet Court Hotel on Saturday April 14 and is a fund raiser for Edenderry RFC. This event will be a fun evening of entertainment never seen before in Edenderry with a most unsuspecting group of people whom you would ever expect to see on a stage let alone dancing on stage.

Following several months of planning and organising for this massive event by the organising committee, the lucky dancers were chosen to participate in Strictly Come Dancing. They underwent several weeks of training (under professional tutors) and learned a group dance and also a solo dance with a partner. Tickets are on sale for the main event on April 14 and all tickets will include a free audience voting card.

The extravaganza was launched in The Four Sons, Edenderry on March 10, when the dancers found out who their dancing partners are. Such is the mix of personalities that we are in for a treat to see them strut their stuff on stage. The dancing couples are:

Kevin Carroll (Allenwood) and Catherine Hoey (Edenderry)

John Foran (Clonbullogue) and Irene Forde (Edenderry)

Darren Hanlon (Mount Lucas) and Tracey Quirke (Edenderry)

Mark Lawless (Edenderry) and Oonagh Mulligan (Rhode)

Dermot Bergin (Broadford) and Helen Walsh (Edenderry)

Brendan Bergin (Edenderry) and Ger Kearney (Edenderry)

Conor Moore (Carbury) and Fidelma Mallen (Carbury)

Chris Kennedy (Castlejordan) and Elaine Glennon (Clogherinkoe)

John Thompson (Castlejordan) and Mary Foran (Rathangan)

Richard Smith (Killina) and Lou Maloney (Carbury)

Raphael Leen (Broadford) and Catherine Neary (Enfield)

Padraig Foy (Edenderry) and Denise Thompson (Carbury)

On the night of the main event, Saturday April 14, there will be a panel of judges to review each performance and then give their comments before giving the couple their score. There will also be audience voting on the night which will have an effect on the overall score for each couple. It will also be a night of glitz and glamour as the dancers will be in full costume and there may even be a prize for the most appropriately dressed couple.

There is a huge support for this event from the dancers, their families and friends, so much so that there is already a massive pre order of tickets in place.

Tickets will be available from the dancers, the venue, several local outlets and the committee.
