CLARA library has been busy hosting ENFOpoint events.
A public talk ‘Recycling and Litter’, by Offaly County Council’s Environment Awareness Officer Caroline Clancy took place on Saturday, January 29 and covered a wide range of topiecs from bring centres to compsoting. Everyone who attended the talk received a free compost bin and a recycling goodie bag.
From February 2 to 4, Ecologist Dale Treadwell, talked to local school children about the vast range of materials available on the ENFO website (www.enfo.ie) which contains a huge amount of environmental information, covering many topics, aimed at helping younger users with their school assignments as well as catering to their own curiosity about the environment. He also spoke about wildlife in your own back yard.
Most recently, on Wednesday, February 9, 1st year students from Ard Scoil Chiaráin in Clara attended a talk on Spiders by arachnologist Myles Nolan.
The illustrated talk included an introduction to spiders, their anatomy and behavior, spiders in Ireland and more specifically spiders of raised bogs in Co Offaly.
ENFOpoint events are taking place in Clara Library for the first half of 2011. The ENFOpoint in the Library is a source of environmental information which includes a dedicated computer for free access to the ENFO website and other environmental information, free leaflets and booklets and a dedicated notice board.
