Harry Potter Celebration
Clara Library & Bog Visitor Centre will be celebrating 15 years of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone on Saturday, June 30 with a very special Harry Potter themed morning between 10am and 1pm.
Harry Potter Arts & Crafts will take place in Clara Bog Visitor Centre from 10am to 12pm (there will be a €1 charge per child to cover materials).
The Big Harry Potter Quiz will take place in Clara Library from 12 noon to 1pm giving fans of the book a chance to test their knowledge.
There will also be puzzles and challenges to be undertaken throughout the morning, a chance to enter Bloomsbury’s Biggest Harry Potter Fan Competition and much more! So why not drop in between 10am and 1pm and join in the fun!
Clara Bog Visitor Centre
Clara Bog Visitor Centre continues to show a family movie on the big screen every Friday at 3.30pm. Bring along popcorn and water (sorry no fizzy drinks or squash) and enjoy a free film in the dedicated entertainment room.
There are still a limited number of spaces forthe Wild Child Summer Camp. Learn about the Natural World with trips to various habitats where you will be catching butterflies and dragonflies, pond dipping, enjoying games, art, treasure hunts, tracking and much more. Bat Conservation Ireland will be giving a bat talk and walk on Wednesday, July 11 from 8pm as part of their Daubentons Bat Training Programme.
If you would be interested in finding out more about the different types of bats we have here in Ireland and would like to use a bat detector to see and hear bats flying around Clara come along to the Centre for this fascinating talk led by one of Ireland’s leading experts in this field.
Absolutely no experience is necessary as full training will be given on the night as well as the loan of a detector for the national Daubentons survey.
Junior A Football Championship: Clara beat Kilcormac/K 2-13 to 0-14 in the Junior A Football Championship last weekend.
The GAA Cul Camp is taking place in Clara from July 2 to 6. The camp is designed to cater for 2nd to 6th class pupils, but provisions can be made for a child in 1st class (only) who is participating in Gaelic games in their local club, and would feel comfortable in such an environment.
The Cul Camp will be held each day, Monday to Friday from 10am to 2.30pm. The cost is €55 for the 1st child, €45 for the 2nd child, and €40 for the 3rd and subsequent children. See promotional packs and book online at www.kellogsculcamps.gaa.ie
Clara U-14 hurlers had a busy week last week between taking part in the national football feile they also had a championship hurling match against Shinrone on Tuesday evening. Clara emerged the winners on the night against a young Shinrone team. On Sunday morning they lads played a hurling challenge game against our Feile visitors from O’Donovan Rossa, based in Belfast. This was a skilful and enjoyable encounter which saw the Belfast club win out on the morning and is very encouraging for the boys from Antrim.
