Offaly Hospice foundation Sunflower Weekend in Banagher was very successful raising a total €1404.05.
Offaly Hospice want to thank all of the volunteers who willingly gave their valuable time to sell the sunflowers and a huge thank you to Flynn’s of Banagher for allowing us use their shopping mall as a collection point it would not be possible without all of your co operation and support.
To you the people of Banagher and surrounding areas who gave so generously thank you most sincerely, and you can be assured that this very generous contribution is very much appreciated as it enables the foundation to continue and to extend its services and support to patients and their families in our local community.
Ferbane/Banagher Macra club is always open to new members, so if you live in the Ferbane/Banagher region and have an interest in sport, agriculture, drama, debating, public speaking or the performing arts then please contact club secretary Tom Needham on 085-7145307.
This year’s cemetery Masses will be celebrated in Banagher cemetery on Saturday July 28 at 7pm and All Saints on Monday July 30 at 7pm.
The local tour will take place on Wednesday June 27. The bus will leave Library Square at 12 noon.
Arts & Crafts
Maureen White is planning arts & crafts summer camps for children aged 4 to 12 years. The first workshop will run from July 9 to 13 for the 4 to 7 age group, and the second will run from July 23 to 27 for the 8 to 12 year olds. Activities will include woodcrafts, pottery, needle craft, painting and lots more. Workshops are also planned for August. For further details contact Maureen on 087-2926530.
Brosna Lodge Lourdes Fund
The fundraising supper/dance will take place on Sunday August 19. Tickets already sold for the event will be valid in August.
Membership is now due. €30 per boat can be paid to John Madden, Harbour Road or Thomas Mannion, Curraghavarna.
Shannon Harbour Book Club meets once a month to discuss books and have a chat and some craic. New members are always welcome. The next meeting is sceheduled for Tuesday 3rd July. For more details contact 087-6317765.
Summer Bridge has resumed in Crank House on Wednesday nights at 8pm. All Bridge players are welcome.
A Summer Camp that Kicks will be held at Scholar & Warrior Studio, Lusmagh: dates July 2 to 5 and July 9 to 12 July, 10am to 2pm each day. Cost €50 per camp with a discount for siblings. Ages 5 to 12 years. Kenpo, fun and games, musical forms, sparring and lots of other activities. You do not need to be doing Karate to go to the camps.
Art & Drama Summer Camp
Let your child express themselves through Drama, Art, Music, Dance and lots of fun. Summer Drama Camp for children 4 to 7 years and 8 to 12 years will start on Tuesday July 10 to Friday July 13, 10am to 2pm each day in St Rynagh’s College, Banagher. The tutors are Artist Tracey McGarry and Director/Youth Theatre Facilitator Anne Clarke. Places are limited. For booking call Tracey on 086-2245620 or Anne on 087-8223175.
The Sunday morning litter sweep will continue for the summer months starting at 7.30am on Sunday mornings. Volunteers welcome.
Pitch & Putt
Banagher Pitch & Putt Course is now open. Membership rates: family €60, individual €40. Payments can be made to John Kennedy or Ger Woods.
West Offaly Training will run an intensive ECDL course in August, starting on August 8. This course would be especially beneficial to students starting college as the qualification can be obtained in 9 days instead of the usual 18 weeks. For further information call Carmel on 057-9152003.
