OVER 10,000 paws took to the streets of the country on Easter Monday, for the second annual Petmania National Dog Walk, in aid of the Carers Association.

The five kilometres sponsored dog walk took place at 13 locations around the country, including Tullamore, with dogs of all sizes and breeds raising funds for family carers. Emily Miller, Marketing Manger of Petmania, commented, “The event was a great success – we had twice the number of registered participants this year compared to last year, which we are delighted with, and everyone had a really great day. The feedback has been fantastic.”

The search is now on for Ireland’s Top Dog and participants are reminded that they have until this Sunday, May 8 to return their sponsorship cards to their local Petmania store or Carers Association Centre.

“This year’s walk was a great success and we would encourage people to continue to raise sponsorship and return the monies raised by May 8,” outlined Annette McCaul, Fundraising Manager, The Carers Association.

“This event is all about raising vital funds for The Carers Association, but to add a little competition, we do have some fabulous prizes to be won by the dogs that raise the most sponsorship money,” explained Emily Miller.

Each walk centre’s Tog Dog will be awarded a year’s free dog food from Royal Canin, while Ireland’s Top Dog will win an amazing luxury family holiday at the dog friendly Harvey’s Point Hotel in Donegal, worth over n1,500.

For those who missed the opportunity to take part in this year’s National Dog Walk, but who would like to pledge support, donations can be made through your local Petmania store or Carers Association Centre.
