Visit of Bishop Michael Smith
Bishop Michael Smith celebrated mass in The Island Church on Saturday Last. It was attended by a large crowd and Bishop Smith formally opened the new sacristy.
Thanks to each and every person who has worked so hard to bring the work on the sacristy, meeting room and toilets to completion.
Well done to all the committee who helped in the preparation of the church for the Bishop’s visit.

Mucklagh, Rahan, The Island Community Games: Congratulations to the U-10 draughts team and U-14 draughts team who won their respective county finals against Rhode and Brosna last week-end. Both teams will now progress to represent Offaly in the Leinster competition. The U-12 team were narrowly beaten in the final by Rhode.
The committee wishes to thank Benny Molloy and Brenda Galvin for helping to coach and prepare the teams for the Finals.
Well done to all who took part in the Talent Show at the weekend. The talent on the day was excellent. More details next week.
Mucklagh Women’s Group
Mucklagh Women’s Group had a very enjoyable evening last Tuesday with Rhythm Retreats, featuring drumming, singing and even a few solo’s. The group meet every Tuesday evening from 7.30 - 9.30pm. New members always welcome, for more information contact 087 7989015 or 087 4162547.

National Youth Conference in Tullamore on Saturday, February 25 in St Mary’s Youth Centre. The theme this year is ‘Our Faith, Let’s Celebrate!’
The event will be facilitated by Will Faulkner from Midlands 103. There will be a variety of bands to entertain throughout the day - Shalom, Ruaille Buaille, Colaiste Choilm. The event is open to people aged 12-18 years. It will provide an opportunity for young Catholics to express their views, share ideas and receive support from each other. Senior Citizens Party
The annual Shamrocks GAA Club Senior Citizens Party will take place in St Carthage’s Hall, Rahan, on Sunday, February 19. All senior citizens’ in the parish are invited.
The day will begin with mass at 2pm followed by dinner and then the music, song and dance will begin. For more information contact Chairperson Paddy Guinan.
Eucharistic Adoration takes place in St Colman’s church every Thursday from 9.30am-8pm. There are many committed people who come each week to spend a particular hour before the Lord in the Blessed Sacrament. We would appreciate it if some more generous people would consider coming along especially between the hours of 4-5pm & 5-6pm on Thursdays.
The numbers drawn in the club lotto were 2, 3, 7 & 24. There was no jackpot winner and one match three winner of €200 - Fr Martin Carley. Next week’s draw takes place in Kelly’s for a jackpot of €4,800.
The annual Shamrocks GAA Club Golf Classic, the winners of which win the Colin Dunne Perpetual Cup, will take place at Tullamore Golf Club on Easter Saturday, April 7. Anyone who wishes to enter a team or provide sponsorship please contact Ollie Bryant, Liam Mooney, Brendan Scully, John Mollin, Padraig Hannon, Paddy Guinan or Brendan Minnock.
Please note the launch of the Golf Classic will take place in Kelly’s, Mucklagh, on Friday, February 17 at 9.30pm and all are welcome.
