EDENDERRY photographer Nida Collins is giving local dog lovers the opportunity to have a fantastic portrait taken of their furry friend and is also offering them the opportunity to win some lovely prizes and help their local Canine Rescue Centre to boot!
On Easter Saturday at 3pm in The Glade Rahin (a mile off the Edenderry, Kinnegad road) there will be a Beauty Pageant for Dogs. It’s all for a bit of fun and to offer support to the local canine centre. Madeline Lucy has been caring for animals for many many years at her home near Castlejordan. She is well known in the area and her consistent and dedicated work with the OSPCA is highly commended.
Nida, who is a dog lover herself, thought this would be a lovely opportunity for dog lovers to come and enjoy the beautiful wooded walks at Rahin and also to take advantage of the chance to have a pet portrait taken.
The dog pageant is just one of the many activities at the Glade this Easter. There will be jewellery making and clay modelling workshops for kids on Good Friday and also during half term there are frosted glass etching workshops and Nida herself will be running a photography workshop for kids on the Wednesday of half term. There is a barbeque on Easter Saturday Evening with music round the camp fire and the highlight is Easter Sunday where at 3pm there will be a treasure hunt in the woods and lots of games for the kids at the Glade to follow.
Madeline will be bringing some of her animals for the kids to see and Adrian Brereton of Adrian’s pets will have some exotic pets on show.
The winners of the Pageant will be announced on the Sunday and prizes for cutest puppy, Macho dog, Golden Oldie and many more will be announced.
Dog owners are asked to bring a can of food or bag of nuts to donate to the Canine Rescue Centre.
The first five dogs who book in will receive a 10x8 mounted portrait of their dog for just €10 (normal price €25 with a can of food), €5 from each portrait sale will be donated to the OSPCA.
