Ready for charity ball

THREE Portarlington fundraisers are back again this year, to raise much needed funds for two deserving local charities.

Marie Corcoran, Colette Kennedy and Maria Molloy will once again host their Gala Ball in the Heritage Golf and Spa Resort, Killenard on Friday, February 25.This year the proceeds will be split between Portarlington Lourdes Invalid Fund and St Francis Special School, Portlaoise.

“We know a lot of people didn’t have Christmas parties before Christmas, so this is a great way for them to have a bit of a celebration and support two great causes at the same time,” Maria Molloy said.

“People are guaranteed a fantastic night,” she added.

Over the last five years has assisted worthy causes such as the Cuisle Centre, Portlaoise paediatrics, The nursing home in Mountmellick, The Kolbe Centre and the Irish Wheelchair Association by raising over E90,000 to date.

Last year’s night was a huge success, as usual, with over 320 people attended.Celebrity solicitor Gerald Kean and his wife Lisa Murphy will once again be the celebrity guests and MC for the night.

The gala ball will get underway at 7pm sharp and it is an opportunity for the ladies to air their ball gowns and dancing shoes, while the men will all look dapper in tux and formal wear.
