Vintage Club raises €7,500 for Midland Living Links

Living Links is a vital support service for families and friends who have lost a loved one to suicide. As most of us are aware suicide does not respect boundaries.

Living Links is a vital support service for families and friends who have lost a loved one to suicide. As most of us are aware suicide does not respect boundaries.

No matter what a person’s social or economic status, religion, age, gender suicide strikes all. Warning signs are rarely given before the tragedy occurs leaving families, friends and workmates shocked and stunned in communities.

Living Links provide a listening ear, practical support and information concerning the funeral, the inquest, what to say to children, what to say to the neighbours, connect to other services but most of all be there as a friend. This service is offered to the counties of Laois, Offaly, Longford and Westmeath.

As always, but particularly in these times of financial recession, funding for voluntary organisations is difficult to obtain.

The money raised from the Tractor Run will continue to educate facilitators, organise suicide bereavement groups in the Midlands and go towards the smooth running of the service so we can continue to meet the needs of the suicide bereaved.

Midland Living Links wishes to acknowledge the very generous contribution received from the Fáile Vintage Club (Mick and Breda Tracy and the Committee) and to everyone who sponsored the tractor run and those involved in making this event possible.

We thank you for all you have done for Midland Living Links. Midland Living Links can be contacted on 086 1600641.
