Ready, steady, knit!

MIDLANDS 103 recently teamed up with Age Action Ireland to help older people keep warm this winter.

Presenter Will Faulkner asked his listeners in Laois, Offaly and Westmeath to dust off their needles and get knitting to help the charity that looks after the elderly.

Groups and individuals of all ages sent more than a thousand hats to the Midlands 103 studios. Two thousand older people die in Ireland each winter from cold related illness. Knitters were asked to create a small woolly hat to be sold in conjunction with Innocent Drinks bottles. They will be on sale from November and the company will pledge a donation for each unit sold.
