ST Patrick’s Day is upon us and preparations are going well for the Bracknagh parade. “It is our chance to show case our village thaks to the RTE crew. Fundraising is going well and we thank all for their support,” said committee member Maria Daly.

The committee would like to thank everyone who supported their cake sale and bric-a-brac last Sunday.

“It was a very successful day with €800 raised on the day. We especially thank all those who baked the lovely bread and cakes,” said Ms Daly.

Prizewinners in the raffle are as follows. Kit Ennis, Ken Doyle, Colm Ruffley, Jimmy Brouder, Rhoda Donnegan, Shane Furey, Bernie Kelly, Olive Daly, Stefan Geoghegan, Margaret Tinclair, Mick Feeney, Henry Justin, Michelle Chapman, Liam Judge, Carol Justin, Tommy Carroll, John Broderick, Thomas Dempsey and Bill Percival

The parade will start at 2pm from Ardra Bridge. “We ask that all participants be in place by 1.30pm at the latest to allow the judges time to talk to participants and see the work that has been put in,” said Ms Daly.

This will allow anyone wishing to go on to Portarlington to do so. Anyone coming from Clonbullogue are asked to turn right at Nahana cross and approach Bracknagh Village from the Portarlington road. The road is narrow and there will not be space for U turns. If you arrive from the Rathangan side you are asked to go on to Nahana turn left and also approach Bracknagh from the Portarlington road.

“We will have the usual music, dancing, balloon artists, and face-painting,” said Ms Daly who added “anyone who wishes to sing, dance or tell a story is welcome and should make themselves known to a member of the committee.”

The results of the art competition will be announced following the parade. “We encourage everyone to come out on the day, take part in the parade or support those who have. It’s our National Feast Day so lets get out there celebrate, have a bit of craic and maybe a pint or two,” Ms Daly concluded.
