Stadium heralds new dawn

The spectacular new AVIVA Stadium in Dublin is a testament to the persistence of two organisations that have always had to fight the might of the GAA for Government funds, never mind players.

The new stadium looks fantastic and will finally provide some comfort to both players and the legions of Lansdowne Road veterans who were spoiled by Croke Park.

The old Lansdowne might have been great for memories but it was most unwelcoming to the loyal supporters who had to brave the bad facilities, not to mention the poor views.

Let us hope that the "new Lansdowne" can provide players and fans with more Grand Slam success and, with some luck, ring in a new era of success for Irish soccer.
