Lowry takes a jump in the World Rankings after Dubai heroics

Lowry takes a jump in the World Rankings after Dubai heroics

Offaly's Shane Lowry has shot back up the table in golf's world rankings after a stunning second place finish at the DP World Tour event in Dubai.

Lowry started 2017 in 43rd spot in the world rankings, but after a stop-start season, he drifted out to 85th. Following his second place finish in Dubai at the weekend, the Clara man has climbed all the way back up to 58th position.

The DP World Tour event saw Lowry build on two strong finishes at the Turkish Open and the Nedbank, where he finished 8th and 12th respectively.

Put for some unlucky putting, Lowry could have won in Dubai, and he has set himself up to launch back into the world's top 50 in the new year.

If he can do that, he will be back in the frame for the 2018 US Masters.
