THE Offaly camogie team will continue their recent trend of making history this weekend when they take to the field against Kilkenny in the first round of the All Ireland Senior Camogie Championship.

The game is fixed for 2.30pm on Saturday in St Brendan’s Park in Birr.

Just two years ago Offaly were setting out in the All Ireland Junior Championship but back to back titles at Junior and then Intermediate have launched Offaly up to the top table of inter-county camogie.

The championship is run over seven games with each game played on consecutive weekends meaning a very bust time ahead for the squad which will be tested to the fullest.

Offaly have prepared well for the test ahead with a solid showing in the league before they reached the Leinster Senior Final by defeating Dublin in a thrilling semi-final.

They lost out in the decider to Wexford but they have shown that they can hack the pace at this level and hopes are high for a good showing in their first senior campaign
