Sporting groups urged to register for Capital Funding

Sporting Clubs and community groups in Offaly are being advised that they must be registered with the Department of Sport in order to be considered for the new round of Sports Capital Funding.

Sporting Clubs and community groups in Offaly are being advised that they must be registered with the Department of Sport in order to be considered for the new round of Sports Capital Funding.

Laois/Offaly Fine Gael TD Marcella Corcoran Kennedy has urged eligible clubs and groups to register stating that Sports Capital Funding is a vital source of revenue for more and more Clubs and community groups and the Department of Sport have set up an new on-line system called OSCAR (Online Sports Capital Register). Every Club which wishes to apply for Sports Capital Funding in the future must first be registered with OSCAR.”

The Deputy also pointed out that a Tax Registration Number must be provided by all organisations wishing to register on OSCAR. This number will be the unique identifier and user name for logging into the system, and written proof of the Tax Registration Number must be provided from the Revenue Commissioners prior to completing the online registration form.

“While no applications for funding are currently being accepted and we have no date for the next round of the Sports Capital Programme, it is vitally important that all Clubs and organisations who want to be considered for the next round of the Programme be registered on OSCAR in advance,” said Deputy Corcoran Kennedy.

The Deputy added that Offaly Sports Partnership are willing to answer any queries from the public in relation to the new OSCAR system, and they can be contacted at the offices of Offaly County Council.
