Twice Leinster and All Ireland U-16 Poc Fada Champions Cillian Kiely narrowly missed out on adding a first Senior Provinicial title to his collection on Thursday at his first attempt.

Twice Leinster and All Ireland U-16 Poc Fada Champions Cillian Kiely narrowly missed out on adding a first Senior Provinicial title to his collection on Thursday at his first attempt.

The young Kilcormac/Killoughey club man was just one shot behind eventual win, Laois Senior goalkeeper Eoin Reilly.

The event was held in glorious conditions in St Mullin’s in Carlow over a 5km course.

In the U-16 category, Offaly’s came fifth but was only three shots behind the winner Kevin McDonald of Carlow in another very close competition
