Impressive Edenderry issue statement of intent

A fixture that promised to be a hard fought, low scoring battle between two supposedly well-matched sides turned into an impressive statement of intent from Edenderry, as the Reds secured their place in the quarter finals of the senior football championship with a comfortable win over Ferbane in O’Connor Park.

A fixture that promised to be a hard fought, low scoring battle between two supposedly well-matched sides turned into an impressive statement of intent from Edenderry, as the Reds secured their place in the quarter finals of the senior football championship with a comfortable win over Ferbane in O’Connor Park.

Edenderry 1-13

Ferbane 0-11

The final five point margin doesn’t come close to reflecting the dominance that Edenderry enjoyed against the West Offaly men. Derek Kelly’s goal left ten points between the sides with nearly a third of the match still remaining and from then on the Reds were in cruise control – perhaps not the ideal way to close out a fixture but a pleasant change from the nervous manner of their last two victories over Tullamore and Tubber.

See this week’s Offaly Express (August 10) for full reports on all games in Round 4 of the SFC.
