Liverpool stars shine again in Edenderry

WHILE the focus of the footballing world over the weekend was on Barcelona’s stunning win in the Champions League Final in Wembley over Manchester Utd and the continued shenanigans in the upper echelons of FIFA, the real action was taking place in Edenderry as the Liverpool Legends made a welcome return to Derry Rovers.

Players of the calibre of John Aldridge, Jason McAteer, Paul Walsh, Ronnie Whelan, Rob Jones and Alan Kennedy lined out in the famous red shirt of Liverpool to take on the ever bigger legends from Derry Rovers.

The celebrations ran across the weekend for Derry Rovers with the club’s Awards Night and the final of the Jim Quinn Memorial Cup.

The Awards Night included a meet and greet with the Legends in Foy’s and was on the night of the Champions League Final, the result of which presumably met with the approval of the boys from Merseyside.
