Students of Kyushoshin Ju-Jutsu were put through their paces last week as they attended their grading seminar at the Midland Martial Arts Centre in Tullamore.

Students – both seniors and children – had been training hard for the past few months in preparation for this very important seminar.

The morning session saw the children - the Kyushoshin Ju-Jutsu Cubs (children under 8 years of age) and Kyushoshin Ju-Jutsu Bears (children over 8 years of age) – being put through their paces.

The children put on an amazing display of their talents, impressing the visiting senior instructors - Joe Carslake 10th Dan Kyushoshin Ju-Jutsu, Martin Mac Cabhail 9th Dan AikiBujutsu and Mark Holland 5th Dan Okinawan Kobujutsu.

The afternoon saw the adults step up to the challenge. In order for each student to be assessed properly the class was divided up into smaller groups – giving each instructor a chance to observe the students closely.

The students not only showed their expertise in Ju-Jutstu but also why they deserved to be graded to a higher level.

The day was a huge success for all students and one that made Kyushoshin Ju-Jutsu Tulach Mhor instructor Sensei Darren Hand very proud. Darren said that ‘it was an amazing day – one that showed just how much the students had worked for their grading’. As Darren noted ‘ one of the highlights of the day was seeing one 3 year old hugging her friend on getting her new belt, it really melted the room’.

Midlands Martial Arts and Training Centre is situated in the Tanyard in the centre of Tullamore and offers classes for both adults and children in Ju-Jutsu, Kickboxing and Shotokan Karate.
