In its commitment to improving standards in underage football in the county the Laois Ladies Football Board has announced the launching of a seven-year development cycle for players from U-12 up to U-18.

Under the guidance of newly-appointed Director of Underage Coaching, Keelan Melaniff, this cycle will see players who have the potential to represent their county brought into development squads starting with the U-12 age group and continuing on through U-13, U-15 and U-17 squads.

An impressive line-up of coaches including Seán Dempsey, Aidan Fennelly and current Laois stars Patricia Fogarty and Aisling Kehoe will ensure that the girls receive top class coaching.

Already the U-12 and U-13 squads have swung into action with over a hundred girls taking part each weekend. Laois has traditionally been regarded as a stronghold of ladies football and it is the aim of this initiative to ensure that that high standard is maintained into the future.

Director of coaching Keelan Melaniff is also available to assist with coaching at club level and can be contacted at 085-2845061.
