The Irish duo of Shane Lowry and Graeme McDowell are just three shots off the lead in a tie for seventh place after the opening round foursomes at the ISPS Handa World Cup of Golf.
After a double bogey on the par five 8th, the duo bounced back with three birdies before they dropped a shot on the last.
The Spanish duo of Rafa Cabrera Belloand Jon Rahm lead the field on three under with the American pairing of Rickie Fowler and Jimmy Walker a shot behind alongside the Chinese and French teams.
The tournament, which is being staged at Kingston Heath GC in Melbourne, is a 72-hole stroke play team event with each team comprised of two players. The first and third days are foursomes (alternate shot) play and the second and final days are four-ball (best ball) play.
