Offaly jockey Pat Smullen will go into the final two meetings in the Flat Racing season still in the hunt for the Champion Jockey title thanks to a terrific treble in Leopardstown on Sunday.

However he still trails perennial rival Johnny Murtagh by two winners going into final meetings after Murtagh had a double of his own in Dundalk last Friday night.

The final meetings are this Friday evening in Dundalk with the season finale on Sunday in Leopardstown.

Smullen’s treble on Sunday was 222/1 as he saddled 8/1 shot Coolnagree in the 2pm, 7/4f Zaminast at 2.30pm and 8/1 shot midnight music in the final race on the card.

Smullen has won the title on six occasions including last year. Murtagh is going for his fifth Champion Jockey Crown.

The leading duo are well clear of the rest of the field as the grueling season comes to a conclusion
