Cycling silver for Offaly’s Fran at Paralympic Games

OFFALY’S Francine Meehan produced a truly memorable performance with her partner Catherine Walsh to claim a silver medal at the Paralympic Games in London.

OFFALY’S Francine Meehan produced a truly memorable performance with her partner Catherine Walsh to claim a silver medal at the Paralympic Games in London.

The talented Irish duo finished in the silver medal position in the Women’s Individual B Pursuit in an Irish record time of 3.36.360.

That time beat the previous World Record however in the final the New Zealand team of Phillipa Gray and Laura Thompson went even faster to take gold in a time of 3.31.530,

After the race tandem pilot Fran Meehan remarked, “We went out and fought hard. We did the best we could, and got second , we did everything we wanted to do and we left it all on the track. We were a damn good second.”
