Tullamore girls win Offaly Community Games Final

The Tullamore Under 13 girls made it two in a row of Offaly Community Games titles as the defeated an excellent Brosna side 59-36 in a high scoring final.

The Tullamore Under 13 girls made it two in a row of Offaly Community Games titles as the defeated an excellent Brosna side 59-36 in a high scoring final.

Shauna O’Connor and Clodagh Redmond led the scoring for Tullamore with 12 points each. Aisling Lydon chipped in with 10 points while four other girls also got on the scoresheet. Special mention must go to point guard Kate Fox, the only girl in Offaly to also play in last year’s final, who picked up her second gold medal. The girls now go on to face the Westmeath champions next month. well done to coaches Orla Spollen and Martina Lydon.

Second Level Schools Play-Offs

Sacred Heart School first years have qualified for the All Ireland Semi Finals which will take place in University of Limerick on Thursday, May 10.

They did so by defeating Scoil Mhuire Longford 37-16, St Louis Kiltimagh 40-17 and Ursuline College Sligo 36-23 in the All Ireland play offs in Sligo last Saturday. Congratulations to the team and their Coach Ms McEnhill and her trusty advisors. Colaiste Choilm Second year boys will try to emulate the girls achievement when they host the All Ireland play-offs next Sunday, April 29. Their first game will tip off at 9.30am against Scoil Mhuire Granard in Colaiste Choilms brand new gym. Their next game will be at 1.45pm against St Geralds Castlebar and their final game will be at 4.40pm against St Pauls Oughterard. Tullamore Basketball wish the boys well and also their coaches Ms Naughton and Ms Hogan. Entry to the games is free so it would be great to see as many supporters as possible attending the Colaiste Choilm venue.

Under 9/10 Blitz

The Under 9 and Under 10 teams will make the journey to Clonaslee next Saturday to take part in a friendly blitz with Clonaslee and Athlone academy teams. This will be the first game for many of the girls and we hope they enjoy the experience. Staring time will be texted to all parents. It is hoped to meet in the SHS car park before departing,
