TULLAMORE U-13 girls basketball team competed in the Leinster community games finals held in St Leo’s College Carlow recently and came away with silver medals.

Helped by 12 points from Emily Bailey and 11 from Maisie Currams they won their semi final match by defeating Dunshaughlin from Meath. Aisling Fox, Gabrielle Touhey and Aoibheann O Mahoney also scored in this game. Final Score Tullamore 27 Dunshaughlin 13.

The team then qualified for the Leinster final against Monasterevin from Kildare.

Unfortunately, despite a brave performance from the girls especially Kate Fox, Amy Galvin and Aoife Spain, Monasterevin, inspired by a daughter of former Tullamore footballer Paul Marron proved stronger.

Nevertheless the Tullamore girls were delighted to be the recipients of silver medals to the cheers of their proud supporters.
