SHANE Lowry was well placed on one under par after nine holes when play was suspended due to thunderstorms at the Barclay’s Singapore Open.

The world number 56 is in a tie for 19th place with the majority of the field still to finish their opening rounds.

The Offaly golfer had one bogey and two birdies on his nine holes with the birdies coming on the two par 5s on the front nine.

Current leader is Thomas Bjorn who is in the clubhouse on five under after an opening round 66. Three players, Simon Khan, Chinnarat Phadungsil and Pablo Martin, are tied behind Bjorn on four under a shot behind Bjorn having all finished their rounds.

Rory McIlroy is level par through eight holes, Michael Hoey and Peter Lawrie both shot one over par 72s while Padraig Harrington also completed his round but he is two shots further back on three over.
