International medals for Tullamore Harriers athletes

Teams from England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland competed in a series of cross country races, and this year Tullamore Harriers had runners in the International Men’s over 40, over 60 and over 65 age group.

Declan Fahey justified his selection for the over 40 team, helping secure the bronze medal for Ireland on what was his first international running event. He completed the 8k course in 28.16 and 3rd team scorer.

John Todd too, was 3rd Irish man in the o60 team, where he put on a fine performance (31.14), even beating his long term rival Pat O’Shea (31.26) from Iveragh AC into the bargain. They won the silver medal, with a one point margin over Scotland.

Jim Langan was the third competitor and despite him being first scorer on the Irish team, and having his best run of late, was unfortunate not to bring home a medal. Jim ran a 6k course in a time of 30.04. Well done to all.

Eight mile marathon cool down

On Saturday last, the 4th Annual 8 mile Marathon Cool Down race, took place in the mixed terrain of trails and road in the Phoenix Park, Dublin. Out of over 600 athletes Keith Gorry finished 10th overall in a fine time of 52.05. Jane Conlon posted a time of 1hr 15.50 and Mary Gorry crossed the line in 1hr 25.20
