Shane Lowry’s good run of form continued last weekend with another top ten finish on the European Tour.
A final round of five under par 67 saw him finish in a tie for sixth place at the Sicilian Open on a four round total of ten under par.
It was nearly so much better for the Clara native as a birdie on the 13th in his final round moved him on to twelve under and into a tie for first place. He then had putts for birdies on 14, 15 and 16 but all missed the hole by millimetres. His round finished disappointingly with dropped shots on 17 and 18 but he still finished well inside the top ten. Dane Thornbjorn Olsen won the event on -15.
Shane opened his tournament with a five under par 67 which included a run of three birdies in his last three holes.
He followed that up with a two under par 70 to stay right in contention but he fell back on Saturday when in very windy conditions he shot a two over par 74.
That left him in 16th going into the final round but he shot up the leaderboard with seven birdies in 13 holes.
He earned e30,000 for the event and the result moves him up to 71st in the European Tour’s Race to Dubai Rankings..
