SHANE Lowry finished off the European Tour with an excellent eighth place finish at the Race to Dubai finale last weekend.
The Esker Hills’ clubman was in the running right throughout the four day event and a final round of two under par 70 earned him his top ten finish and a cheque for €143,933.
All the players in the field qualified for the event by virtue of being in the elite top 60 on the European Tour and Shane mixed it with the world’s best over the four days.
Rounds of 69, 70, 68 and 70 left him on -11 for the tournament, eight adrift of winner Alvaro Quiros.
Incidentally Shane finished tied with Robert Rock who he beat in a play-off to win the Irish Open as an amateur in 2009 and coincidentally, both golfers are now side by side in the Official World Golf Rankings at 121st and 120th respectively with the Englis golfer just a fraction in front.
Shane’s climb back up the rankings has been a feature of the campaign as he dropped as low as 256th after missing the start of the year through injury.
