ON Saturday evening last, the Leinster Senior Road race Championships was held in Rathdrum, Co Wicklow. It was a 10k event and run over a challenging hilly course.
Tullamore Harriers were the proud winners of the womens competition where Maire Triona Keane led the team home and actually first lady across the line in a fine time of 37.45.
Maire Triona struggled with injury last year but is proving she is well and truly back to form of late. This was a personal best for her, boosting her confidence for further competition.
Next lady finisher for Tullamore Harriers was Michelle Mullaney who too ran a pb in a time of 40.45 followed by Rita Daly (45.08). Martina Conlon (49.47) was 4th scorer securing the gold in club and county category.
In the mens competition, which was also run over the 10k distance, Catch Grennan narrowly missed out on 3rd place in a time of 33.49.
His team mates of Brendan Abbott (37.12), Chris Donegan (38.18), Liam Byrne (40.08) and Pauric Sweeney (40.16) all put on good performances on the day earning 4th club place.
Richie Faulkner competed in the Timahoe 5k and finished in 6th place overall in a time of 18.35.
