Sinn Fein spokesperson on Education and Skills, Teachta Carol Nolan, has called on the Minister of State for Training and Skills to publish the findings of the School Transport Review immediately.
The Offaly TD said, “there was a clear commitment in the Programme for Government that the School Transport Review would be completed prior to Budget 2017.
“I raised this issue directly with the Minister of State for Training and Skills, Teachta John Halligan in the Dáil chamber three weeks ago.
“He assured me that the findings of the review would be made available within two weeks. This has not happened.
She states that school children across this state have been let down by the Minister of State already as she says he has not kept his commitment that no child would lose their bus seat.
“The ongoing lack of attention to this matter is causing huge anger and frustration among those affected and there are indications that the issue will worsen in the next school year as the demand for school transport increases due to a higher school going population.
“I am calling on the Minister of State to immediately publish the findings of the school transport review so that certainty can be given to families well in advance of the next school year,” Deputy Nolan concluded
