ballads were the order of the day at Clara Bog Visitor Centre recently when it hosted an afternoon of singing and celebration with the hugely successful Clara Ballad group and young local talent Chloe Kelly.

In recognition of their numerous achievements, the venue was packed to the rafters with people wanting to listen to the very best ballad singers in the country.

They delighted all with their All-Ireland winning songs including Gentle Annie and Uncle Nobby’s Steamboat as well as some old favourites such as Danny Boy. The audience obviously enjoyed every moment and erupted with applause at the end of every song.

Chloe Kelly is certainly one to be watched over the next few years. Recently appearing in the final of Young Midland’s Got Talent, she performed her three chosen songs, including Good Morning Baltimore, with confidence and professionalism and with a most beautiful tone in her voice. She undoubtedly has a natural talent for singing and entertaining and a big future ahead of her.

With refreshments afterwards and very generous and kind donations to the charity Laois and Offaly Families for Autism (LOFFA), it was a hugely successful event enjoyed by all.

Clara Ballad Group will be launching a CD for LOFFA on June 22 in Doc’s Bar Clara.
