Edenderry gardai are seeking assistance in relation to the attacks.

Members of the public in Edenderry have been urged to be more vigilant regarding suspicious individuals throughout the area.

Local Councillors Fergus McDonnell and Noel Cribbin this week said that it was important that everyone played their part considering the number of recent household robberies.

Cllr McDonnell is asking the public to assist Edenderry Gardai by reporting any suspicious activity in their area.

“Local Gardai need the support of the public in their efforts to better protect the community at large. Homeowners should check their home security and if necessary seek the advice of local Gardai as to how to simple measures could be undertaken with minimal cost to the homeowner,” he added.

“This is a worrying trend,” pointed out Cllr Cribbin. “If there is a Neighbourhood Watch in your area then you should join it, if not then maybe people should join together and then set one up,” urged Cllr Cribbin.

“Robbery at any time can be traumatic and particularly for elderly homeowners with the associated risk of personal injury. It is vital that the public respond by assisting local Gardai to help protect the wider community,” concluded Cllr McDonnell.
