Tullamore bypass to close for nine nights

TULLAMORE'S Bypass is to close for nine nights to allow for resurfacing works. Remedial resurfacing work on the N52 Tullamore Bypass is scheduled to commence on Tuesday August 3.

The work will be carried out at night-time, in order to minimise inconvenience to the public, and should be completed by Thursday August 12.

The work will be carried out at roundabouts and will necessitate the closure of sections of the bypass over a period of nine nights.

Diversions will be in operation during these times. Details of the diversions will be available at Offaly County Council's offices and on our website.

The €45 million bypass which opened in October of last year failed routine tests which are carried out following the completion of such projects.

Offaly County Council said post completion quality assurance testing on the N52 Tullamore Bypass identified that the skid resistance of the road surface at specific areas of the bypass, including side roads and roundabouts, is not up to the specified standard.
