TEAMS from the Mark Heffernan Trust, the Offaly Dyslexia Group and Oxfam Tullamore were among the large local contigent that took part in the recent Flora Womens Mini Marathon in Dublin.

In total over €1,600 was raised. On behalf of Oxfam Susanne O’Rourke, Oxfam Tullamore Shop Manager, would like to thank the people of Tullamore and surrounding areas for their generosity.

On the flag day in Tullamore €949.25 was raised, a cake sale in Killina Secondary school orgainised by Adam Horan raised €45.40 and the rest was made up by individual fundraising of our Marathon walkers.

They were Claudia Meacle, Mary Doheny, Susanne O’Rourke, Eddie (Edwina) Kenehan and Shawn (Agnus) Cleary.

The money raised will go directly to Oxfam projects like the one in Burkina Faso where Oxfam has started cash for food programmes which involves communities building new water preserving structures in exchange for cash.

The Oxfam shop in Tullamore welcomes any donations of homeware, books, DVD’s, CD’s and clothing that will enable us to continue our work in areas of drought and poverty.

The next Oxfam event is an Art Exhibition on Friday, July 6 supported by Midland Framing.
