Promotion for Tullamore Inspector
TULLAMORE Inspector Pat Murray has been promoted to the rank of Superintendent. Having served as a Garda, Sergeant and Inspector in Tullamore since 1991, he will take up his new position in Gort, Co Galway this week.
After passing out in 1982 he went on to service in Dublin on two occasions, in Wicklow, Wexford and well as all over Laois and Offaly.
Originally from Moate, Co Westmeath he has lived in Tullamore for the past 20 years with his wife Maura, who is Deputy Principal in Moate Community College and their two daughters and one son.
Although he will be working in Galway the family will remain living in Tullamore.
Inspector Murray takes with him fond memories of his time in the town.
“Tullamore was a fantastic place to work as a Garda. There is a great community and an excellent relationship between them and the Gardai. This has been handed down through each generation of Gardai,” he said.
He added if a position arose he may even return to town. Meanwhile Superintendent Fergus Dwyer, who has been in Tullamore since last summer, has also been transferred which means Superintendent John Moloney, who served as an Inspector in the town and is currently in Birr, will take over as Superintendent in Tullamore on July 1.
