Plan a ‘complete failure’ in Tullamore

A TULLAMORE councillor vented his anger at the “complete failure” of the Traveller Accommodation programme in the town.

Fine Gael councillor, Tommy McKeigue voiced his concerns about the situation during a recent discussion on the draft review of Traveller Accommodation Programme 2009 - 2013.

The councillor said that he didn’t know what has gone in Tullamore but he pointed to the official halting site now bring surrounded by two unofficial sites in Kilcruttin.

“The people down there know what has been going on and nothing has changed for them down that end of the town.”

Cllr McKeigue felt nothing is being done to address the accommodation issues in the area. “I want action on it but nothing has happened,” he stated.

Independent councillor, Dervill Dolan, concurred with Cllr McKeigue’s sentiments. “It is unacceptable but it has been going on for a long number of years,” the Tullamore councillor added.
