NRA to upgrade Edenderry-Daingean road

THE allocation of €200,000 from the National Roads Authority for specific road improvements to the R402 road between Daingean and Edenderry has been welcomed by Edenderry Town Councillor Declan Leddin.

“This funding is a major boost for motorists who are regular users of this particular stretch of road and will go a long way towards improving driving conditions and the general safety of motorists on the R402,” explained Cllr Leddin.

The Labour party representative added, “I have had several representations from people in Daingean and Mt Lucas who have concerns about the condition of the road surface and this funding will help to significantly improve driver safety.

“The Government has allocated over seven million Euros to Offaly County Council for specific improvements and road and bridge maintenance in the county and along with the funding provided for the upgrade of the Edenderry to Enfield road is an indication of the Governments commitment to improving access to the North Offaly region and attracting investment and jobs to the region.”
