‘Magic Memories - Birr GAA Club Through the Lens’

PREPARATION of the Birr GAA Club pictorial publication entitled “Magic Memories - Birr GAA Club Through the Lens” is gathering momentum and the sub-committee charged with bringing the project to fruition are renewing their appeal for people to submit any photographs of interest that they deem worthy of inclusion.

The reason for publishing this book in September of this year is to coincide with the centenary of Birr’s first Offaly senior hurling championship title success in 1912.

Please note that all photographs submitted will be logged, scanned and returned to people immediately, or alternatively, if people wish to scan their own photographs (accompanied by a full caption) and submit them, they can do so to a dedicated e-mail address: birrgaabookpics@gmail.com

Hard copy photographs can be submitted to any of the sub-committee members (Martin McCarthy, Liz Kennedy, Gary Cahill, Herbert Hennessy, Cllr Tony McLoughlin, Junior O’Callaghan, Mick Spain or Alan Walsh) and you can also drop them into Martin McCarthy 087 7649804 at Sportswear Direct, Main Street, Birr or alternatively contact Alan Walsh at 086 1086420.

Page Sponsors at a cost of €50 are being sought to help offset the cost of publishing “Magic Memories - Birr GAA Club Through the Lens” and you can also become a Patron for €25. For those who become a sponsor or patron, they will receive a free copy of the book which will retail at €10.

Birr GAA club has savoured many magic memories since the club was founded and the aim of “Magic Memories - Birr GAA Club Through the Lens” is to have a photographic keepsake that will stand the test of time and be a fitting tribute to all who contributed to the club in so many different ways.
