GARDAI investigating the fatal stabbing of a Polish national in Tullamore are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident.

Reports now suggest that 30 year old Grezegorz Guzik may have taken his own life during the incident. A second man who was in the house on Kilbride Street at the time suffered minor injuries to his face and hands. He was brought to Tullamore Hospital but was later released after receiving treatment. A woman and a three year old boy were also in the house.

The scene is still cordoned off as Gardai continue to carry out examinations.

Speaking on Midlands 103 this morning Inspector Kieran Keyes, who is heading up the investigation, said that Gardai are not looking for anyone else in relation to the stabbing.

“I can confirm that a post mortem has taken place at the Midland Regional Hospital Tullamore by Dr Curtis but for operational reasons we will not be releasing the findings. I can confirm also that Gardai are not looking for anybody else in relation to this incident and we’ve received full co-operation from all parties involved.”

Inspector Kieran Keyes appealed for anybody who may have seen anything or heard anything in the Kilbride Street area between 6.30am and 7.30am yesterday, to contact Tullamore garda station at 057 9327600.
