Clara grandparents recount Christmas memories

Listening to stories at Grandparents Day in Scoil Bhrde, Clara

On the Wednesday before Christmas, grandparents of senior infant and fourth class pupils were invited to Scoil Bhríde Clara to share their memories of Christmas with their grandchildren.

Fr Paddy Keary started the proceedings by blessing and lighting candles in memory of grandparents who are no longer with us.

The children, who were put in groups by their teachers, asked questions about what Christmas was like for their grandparents and appeared delighted by the experience, if not a little shocked by some of the answers.

This was a most beneficial endeavour which was organised by the Home School Community Liaison Co-ordinator Siobhan Butler in conjunction with the two class teachers Shirley Cooney and Triona O’Lone.

The proceedings concluded with a Christmas song from both classes and a cup of tea with mince pies by the grandparents.
