Grand Marshalls for the occasion were local sporting heroes Shane Lowry, Tracey McGrath and William Buckley.

Lord Mayor of Clara Paddy Dolan and "Queen of Clara" Teresa Stanley led the parade along with "Little Queen's" Sinead Power and Corina Gallen.

The parade lasted over one and a half hours with entrants from as far away as Eyrecourt in Co Galway travelling to take part in this year's parade.

With seven marching bands and many vintage cars, tractors and lorries the day had something for all. The national anthem was performed by local favourite Catch Berry.

Organiser Bertie McMahon said it was a parade to remember. "We were very pleased with it, it was one day where everything just went right."

He paid tribute to the Civil Defence, Martin O'Connor, the Gardai, and stewards John Conlon from Mount Temple and Martin O'Connor and all who helped make the parade such a success.

A total of twelve prizes were awarded by judges. First prize went to Brosna Comhaltas, second to Rahan Comhaltas, third to Clara GAA, fourth to Charleville Castle, fifth to Moate Vintage Society, sixth to Sean Mc Guinness from Horseleap, seventh to Brosna Maundry, eighth to Youthreach, ninth to Barney Molloy from Kilbeggan, tenth to the Clara Swimming Club, eleventh to Pat Cleary from Tullamore and twelfth to Breen Fort in Baylinn.

Prizes ranged from €25 to €200 with all winners receiving trophies.
