Chandler twinning could help economy
THE twinning of Tullamore with the town of Chandler in Arizona could bring with it economic benefits.
At the September meeting of Tullamore Town Council it was revealed that a meeting had taken place with the American town’s Director of Economic Development who deals with at least 400 businesses in Chandler.
Town Clerk Ruth McNally told members this could be very good for the town, as if companies were looking for a european base, Tullamore could be suggested. “It’s different from the traditional twinning. It would be an economic first,” said Ms McNally. She described it as a very positive move, one which would tap into the American “can do” attitude.
She said the twinning process was going very well. She also reminded councillors that the Arizona Rose had mentioned Tullamore during her interview on television.
