DO you think you could spare three hours of your time and by doing so you could possibly help prevent somebody from committing suicide?

The Tullamore Lions Club and the HSE have got together to organise two SafeTalks that are a three hour programme that teaches people how to identify people who are considering suicide.

The programme teaches participants how to become ‘suicide alert’ and how to be able to recognise and engage with people who may be contemplating suicide.

On Saturday, February 4, members of Tullamore Lions Club will be in the Bridge Centre Shopping Centre signing up people to participate in the SafeTalk programmes.

The two SafeTalks will be taking place in Tullamore on Monday, February 20 and 27 in the Lanello Centre.

This is the second year that the Club has facilitated Josephine Rigney who is the Suicide Prevention Officer with the HSE into getting people to participate in the programme.

If one life can be saved by people attending this programme then it is extremely worthwhile.

If you are interested in attending these SafeTalks you can also sign up by contacting any of the following Tullamore Lions Club members Des Henry 087 2547138, Paul Bell 087 9778225 or Alan Duffy 087 2303837.

Together we can make a difference.
