There was a capacity crowd in The Hamlet Court Hotel, Johnstownbridge last Saturday for the Edenderry RFC Strictly Dancing event.

And the ‘F-Factor’ was certainly crucial as it was the Foran-Forde combination of John and Irene, respectively, that emerged victorious.

Such was the demand for tickets that there was a waiting list for those who could not get tickets. Those lucky enough to have tickets queued from 6pm for the doors to open at 7pm and the room was full by 7.30pm.

At 11.30pm the excitement in the venue was electric as the formalities ended and the master of ceremonies, Vincent O’Sullivan, prepared to announce the winners.

Then silence descended as he declared, “The winners of Edenderry RFC Strictly Come Dancing 2012 are dance number 12 John Foran and Irene Forde.”

The massive crowd erupted with delight and the party began. All the couples were presented with a souvenir of the event and there were special trophies for the winning couple.

John and Irene danced an American Style Rumba to the music ‘Time After Time’ by M. Williams & T. Morice.

All the couples were expertly tutored over the last six weeks by dance teacher Sabrina Capocci.
